Question:
How do I get an AUX jack installed into my car stereo?

This is what my radio looks like.
http://www.willmanselectronics.com/images/U33007764front.jpg How do I make it so I can plug my iPhone into it? Do I get a new stereo system, or can I just get an AUX jack installed? If possible, I'd like to be able to control skip back and forth on songs as I would with a CD, which probably means a 3.5 mm jack wouldn't do. Still, I could settle for that. But I'd rather not touch my phone while driving. If possible, I'd still like to have a CD player. I don't necessarily need to keep the six disc CD changer I have now, but I'd like to still be able to play at least one CD. What should I do?

A Honda radio with an anti-theft light... is the car by any chance a 2000ish Civic EX? In those vehicles the anti-theft was integral with the radio and even replacing the radio was a big deal. The original radio ended up being mounted under the dash to continue the security operation. Your best bet is to check with Crutchfield.com. They will have a kit for it or will be able to consult with you about adding an aux input.

Not all cars are the same in that way. My first gen (2002) Prius is stuck with the radio it has - it is network connected (it does not even have speaker outputs!) and adding an aux port is out of the question.

There are plenty of iphone compatible head units for <$100. That would probably be the most effective solution if you want to be able to control your phone from the HU.

Why not just get a different radio? That would solve all ya problems and not need a 3.5mm plug and extra hardware.

Get an FM modulator installed. An Audiovox FMM100a is a good one, and switchable, so when you use the 3.5mm jack, it plays whatever is plugged into the jack through the cars original sound system, then switch it off and the sound system (your radio) plays as it does now. This is done through the cars antenna cable plug, so the radio itself gets no modification at all.

iSimple makes one as well.

I have installed several FMM100a's and they work very good. (407D1)

What should you do? Put the phone away and DRIVE THE CAR! In many places, it's ILLEGAL to touch your phone while driving, even to play music. If you want music variety, buy a radio that receives Sirius/XM satellite radio.

There is no provision on that to adapt an aux port. You'll need an entire new system.

First you need a drill
