I have a '97 Civic with a stock sound system that just doesn't cut it for what I'd like. I have an Alpine CDE-9843 deck I can use and I am looking at Infinity Kappa 3-ways (693.7i and 63.7i) for my speakers. What exactly does an amp do for me? Do I need one with RMS of 75W and 110W on the speakers and a max output of 4x45W from the deck? I listen to metal mostly, so sound quality is a must. Loudness is not really an issue, but also couldn't hurt. Any advice and/or links to FAQ articles would be very much appreciated.

Those are good speakers, they are entry level infinity's, you can get away with just using deck power for them. But if you listen to metal and you want clarity, then a 600watt amp 4 channel would be the best bet. If you want the best than your gonna wanna go with Boston acoustics or MB Quart, these are the leading brand speakers for mid range sound. check em out at Sounddomain.com.. also can check out what I have at cardomain.com/shyceTsian My stereo hits at about 140Db so that could work too. :)

awesome decision. I truly have a 06 sentra with an entire stereo improve. you may get a bypass i think to run an amp and subs to the inventory stereo. wont sound as reliable yet gets the interest accomplished. truly i might improve the stereo too. purely like the audio equipment you could constantly return it decrease back to inventory on the tip of the lease and save the stereo as properly. including an amp will require you to hook it as much as the battery whether and the subs are undemanding as properly.
