I have a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. It has around 128k miles on it. It’s having a few issues, but the newest one is with the radio.

For the past week when I would start my car, my radio would not come on right away. It took a minute to turn on. It used to just come on with the windows and other lights.

Now when I toggled the lighting in the car (left turn signal handle), and I lower the lighting and then make it brighter, I hear a “pop” sound and the radio goes blank. Sometimes it even says “Error” on the radio.

What could cause this?

The other issues I am having is with the A/C and Transmission.

Thanks!

You are going to have to take that to a shop. The list of things that could cause your stereo problem include a bad ground, a bad headlight switch or turn signal switch, a broken wire, a bad stereo etc. nobody can tell you more than that without being hands on with the jeep.

By the way, the transmission in your jeep is known for bad durability, and you are looking at a couple of grand to replace it if it is bad. You need to get an estimate to fix everything and decide if the jeep is worth fixing. I am not trying to be a downer, but you may find out that the repair bill is more than the jeeps value.

your radio power supply its defective, this happens when old or if you jump start the vehicle,

you can find the same original radio very inexpensive here and with warranty

Radio....AC...Transmission? Time to trade that old beast in for another car.
