Ported enclosures produce more resonant bass...sealed enclosures produce hard hitting..tight bass..depending on the music you listen to, I'm thinking you want ported..it tends to move more air, which is what "bass you can feel" is all about.

When musicians or DJs introduce bass into a recording or mix, they do so because they want to fill out the lower end of the sound.... the sound! Subwoofers and bass speakers are designed to play back that sound, the vibration just happens to be a side effect of the sound as it travels from the speakers to our ears; they are not specifically designed to shake cars.
However, since that doesn't answer your question, maybe this will... by giving us the size of your speakers in inches means you are only giving us half of the information. Speakers are more commonly measured in terms of their potential for power output; wattage (watts). Another factor is the material the cone of the speaker is made from. An aluminium cone on a 22" speaker with 500 watts of power will shake a pickup truck. You could also have the same set up but with an 8" speaker and it wont budge a push bike. Different combinations will do different things and it could be anyones guess how it will affect your car. As for an enclosure, you would have to get something solid, metal, built to fit solidly to your cars body in order for the speaker to transfer as much energy as possible. But as I said, musicians and DJs and decent subwoofer manufacturers intend for the bass frequencies to be listened to. If you don't like music, buy a massage chair.

Im working on the same thing, I want more bass. But from the research i have done a while ago, i found out that the majority of your bass has alot to do with the style box you have. I have a sealed box and i get great response from it. They are easy to build yourself and give deeper bass. People say ported boxes give more bass. Which in a sense is true, but it only seems like it cause a sealed box just requires more power for deeper bass, but sounds much better. The best thing to do is go to the manufacters website and check out what they recommend for box sizes and style of enclosure. And also, your subs could just be wired wrong.

I'd suggest soundproofing your car so that no one outside your car has to hear it.
