The title about sums it up. I'm thinking about buying some subs, but I'm not really into rap. I'm more into alternative and Screamo. Stuff like Atreyu, Bullet For My Valentine, Alesana, Escape The Fate, Falling In Reverse, ect. I'm wondering if that kind of music would sound good thru subs or if the bass of that kind of music would be too much?
Please only answer if you like metal like me. I don't need people saying bad stuff about Screamo lol

Yes,
It all depends on the subwoofer you get. If you get a 10" it will sound punchy and have less of a sound pressure. With 12"s it will sound punchy as well but a slower bandpass (takes longer too beat, slower latency), Ans 15" will have a more beefy bassier sound with big spl (sound pressure level). So I would pick two 10"s or two 12"s around 150-200 watts RMS. And set your amplifire to 70-80Hz this way you will reach higher and faster response which will give you better SQ ( sound quality). And I would buy a dual 12" or 10" sealed enclosure for even more stable sound. I would recommend filling the box with Polly-fill as well. Good luck!

tuning as the other said is a big deal, but i still found that 10's sound better with it then 12's or even 15's quicker response more punchy and just work out better.
This is just my experience.

It does sound good. It is all in the tuning that you do. I myself have two setups tuned in my headunit. 1 for rap and 1 for rock. The rock sounds great on them. Really hard hitting bass.
