NC neon underglow laws?

Recently bought a red 05 Altima SE-R and want to put red neon under it. Comment was made that red and blue glow are illegal but they werent sure. Any experience with this issue, or where can I find the actual law? Thanks ALOT

To be honest you will find yourself getting pulled over no matter what color. There are laws regarding color of exterior lighting, but the police will pull you over claiming the neon is an illegal accessory that distracts other drivers. Buy whatever color you want and keep it off the road when they are on.



FYI: I live in NC, and have been pulled over with white.

From what I have gathered from the following link to the Motor Vehicle Act: Article 3, only certain colors are prohibited. Red, blue, and amber lights are not allowed on public vehicles not intended for emergency services. I have found no specific mention of underglow lights being illegal using any other colors.



My conclusion is that having underglow lights is not illegal. On a side note, I would not use them while driving if they flash. The flashing lights could be distracting or trigger epileptic seizures for certain drivers.

yes .... any color other than red blue and yellow are illegal to use for the streets ... pulses while driving can also be deemed illegal



best way to have a neon and NOT be worried about a ticket is to keep it turned off while on the streets .... use it to show off your car to your friends at night away from street lights

any colour other than red, white, or yellow is illegal for street use, but u can use them 4 racing.
