I had someone install new speakers all around in my 2002 Mits Eclipse and it seems that most of the sound is only coming from the front speakers. He said he ran the new speakers through the existing factory amp which i believe is 200w(i know its crap). He also told me that the head unit i purchased only had inputs for two speakers so he had to splice the speakers together, so they are all wired in as rear speakers and if i try to adjust the rear/front volume it just raises and lowers the volume of the whole system. the front ones buzz a little as well. Could whats causing this be fixed by replacing the amp or did the guy just wire the speakers wrong. The head unit is a Pioneer DEH-2200UB and the speakers are Alpine SPG-17C2 (front) & Alpine SPR-69C (rear) I included spec links below.

Actually, I have a pretty good idea what he did.

Your Eclipse was originally equipped with a stock Infinity sound system, which includes a factory amplifier located under the passenger seat. There's a special harness available to install a new head unit and keep the factory amp working. This harness uses the deck's RCA outputs instead of the speaker outputs. Your head unit has four speaker outputs, but only one pair of RCA outputs; which is why everything is running from the rear channels of the head unit.

When you're installing new audio equipment in one of these cars, you have the choice to keep the factory amp working, or to bypass it. Generally, when I'm installing new speakers along with the new deck, I'm always going to bypass the amp. If someone's keeping the stock speakers, then it's best to keep the stock amp as well. Bypassing the amp means connecting the new speakers directly to the head unit's speaker outputs, instead of running them through the amplifier. Your installer should have bypassed.

The easiest way to fix the problem is to purchase a Metra 70-7002 amplifier bypass harness. With this, you can unplug the factory amp, connect the plug to the harness, and run the wires up to the head unit location to connect to your new deck's speaker outputs.

The only downside to bypassing the amplifier is that you'll lose the factory tweeters and center dash speaker.

First they haven't made a two channel radio in about twenty years. So I don't that's the problem. It's wired wrong not to mention the ohm load is most likely cooking your radio. Changing the radio is not going to fix a bad wiring job. You'll most likely fry a new radio. The buzzing is being caused by the factory amp not the radio. Bypass the factory amp. Use the radio power for the front an rear speakers. Till you can get a 4 channel amp with cleaner power. Check the link below . This will much cleaner sound and a lot louder. Also male sure that you get the speaker polarity right. Your radio has two sets of rca outputs to feed the amp. If you have subs you can split the rear rca 's with rca y adapters to feed signal to the sub amp. You should be able to control your system from the radio. If you need diagrams email me. I hope this will help you . Good luck.

you need to get a new headunit that supports more speakers because the headunit is probably not reacting well with the spliced chords. or it could be that the amp is not powerfull enough

wtf lol he wired it wrong. if he used the factory speaker mounting locations, and used the factory amp, that means he HAD to hav used the factory wiring as well. sounds to me like he didnt. it should be a simple unplug the old and plug in the new. shouldnt hav to splice anything lol. next time let someone who knows wat ther doing help you :p
