RE audio, Kicker, Alpine, MTX, JL Audio, Rocksford Fosgate, Kenwood (higher end stuff), Pioneer (Premier only), and Memphis are your top brands. Go with any of that stuff and you can't go wrong.

JL's probably the best commonly available brand for amps. They are always one of the leaders in R&D although Alpine trumped them a couple years ago with thier PDX amps. Pioneer Premier has some real nice gear.
Boston Acoustics, Eclipse, JBL/Infinity.
I think Kicker has really dropped off in recent years. RF's Power amps are nice, but they're pretty pricey vs performance IMO.
Some of the high end brands most mainstream consumers might not even know of...Zapco, Zed Audio, Arc Audio, Audison, Mcintosh, Mmats - the list goes on.

I have a Memphis amp for my Two 15's in my car and it works very well..
I also am using a street edge memphis amp for my speakers in my car..
