Pioneers expensive components can give JL a run for its money easily, but comparing these two, the JL wins hands down. Pioneer is still a good choice, though.

best to get the JL's

See sony and pioneer have altered the way they make & rate there car audio products. unlike before there more out to sell there products rather than product quality. This is why there available l at Wallmart.

Now as a top brand for the last ten years JL Audio cant be compared to these brands , it is best to compare JL's products to Alpines. And if that were the question I'd go with the alpines and here is the best place to order them http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.brands&category_id=9&brand_ID=1

also you can order the JL's here really cheep to so you save money and get the quality. also then your not sporting speakers from Wallmart

were in the same boat. i too love SQ, and dont listen to rap. . . ever. both Boston and JL make great amps. however both are expensive. but you cant really go wrong with either. i personally lean more twords Boston, but thats just me. i say get the amp that best matchs up with whatever your hooking it up to. whether that be speakers or subs. i own a pair of the Zs and there the best car speaker i have ever heard. personally i think the pro's are very good as well. however they dont sound as good. to me they sounded about as good as JL's ZR seriers. but the Pros are cheaper. Alpine shouldnt even be considered, unless your going to buy there set of comps that are like $2k. i've never heard those, but i'd like to. the Type R's will seem like your listening to your stock system compaired to the Pro's and ZR's. Infinity is in the same boat as Alpine. i'm not saying its not good stuff, it is. its just not near as good as Boston's and JL's. head units normally mean very little for SQ. therefor you should pick one with a good amount of features, and thats easy for YOU to use. i personally like Pioneer right now. very easy to use, lots of features. Eclipse is ok, but they were bought out and there not what they used to be. Kenwood used to be my favorite, and now there harder then hell to use. a lot of people like Alpine. i dont. just not easy for me to use. i dont like the set up. this is all pefernce, of course, but you ge the idea. get what suits you. as far as SQ you have left some major players out. i personally choose Boston to be on top of my SQ list. however, no 2 people hear the same. meaning what sounds great to me might not to you. here are some other brands that i highly recomend checking out there speakers. Diamond Audio MB Quart both are solid brands, and are reasonably priced. also for amps if you really want SQ then there is only 1 amp brand to get. and that McIntosh. however if you cant afford $2k for an amp, then Audison is also a great choice. and if you cant afford that either, then like i said before you cant go wrong with BA or JL. good luck

the JL will always outperform pioneer. it doesnt even matter what the specs are, quality brand beats fake numbers...

have you ever gotten a 1400w crappy walmart amp to replace your 600w quality amp only to realize something is wrong with the numbers they 'say' it produces....
