I need some help finding the right bass for my little cobalt. I'm currently in process of shopping for a new sound system. I'm not really in the market to spend more than about 500 in it. However I'd still like to have a good hit. I've already begun looking and have found two possibilities in my area, Sony Xplod's including 2 12" 1200 watt subs powered by a 800w amp, and a Kenwood "party pack" 2 12" 800 watt subs powered by a 650w amp. Those are just sets I can make by going to a store, but I am willing to shop online if there's a good suggestion. Which is the best brand on the market?

Well there is no "best brand" but there are plenty of bad brands to avoid. (like boss, pyle, volfenhag, sound storm,)

and I feel like you're quoting max ratings.

DON'T EVER pay attention to max ratings. they don't mean anything. you need to focus on the RMS ratings of amps and subwoofers. and match them accordingly

Next a good site to check out is sonicelectronix.com

they have good prices on their equipment.

and you can always check ebay or craigslist.

If you see something you like and have a question about a particular brand then feel free to ask about it

If your headlight dims with the bass notes, the “BIG 3” might work. If not an H.O. alternator will be needed, or else be prepared to pour a lot of $$$ for batteries.

This site explains the "BIG 3" upgrades.

I've designed my car for SQ (Sound Quality) not SPL (Sound Pressure Level) my imaging is very good. The bass sounds as if it is up front and my 12 inch sub (picture as shown) in the trunk. I LOVE how it all worked out.

ok im going to assume that cost isn't a controversy, because of fact that's a generally used question. I definitely have a JL audio 10"W7 w/500x1 amp (ported field), VR sequence coaxial element device w/3 hundred/4 amp, 8 gauge wires (won't take ne subject much less), an eclipse headunit with equipped in preset equalizer and sixteen band adjustable equalizer at 60x4 watt (i think of, in afghanistan so i cant keep in mind), optima crimson real battery in trunk (actual needed) and all JL audio wiring-ran approximately $3500-after custom fake floor became into put in-oh and dynamat-ok i inform you what, i swear as God a my witness I definitely have long previous to automobile shoes and beat out adult adult males with 3xJBL 15" (uncertain on sequence), 3xMTX 10" subs, and so on. i desire to get yet another, yet my returned window has already cracked as quickly as, with the voume basically set a million/2 way, the backside set a million/2 way and the amp set 1 / 4 of ways. So, in variety, JL audio, memphis, or rockfort fosgates are the thank you to bypass. I want JL myself, as u can tell.
