what is a detachable stereo vs a normal stereo

my car is a 2001 nissan sentra, it has a stereo but I want to buy one at walmart so that I can just plug in my ipod, the ones I see are detachable what does that mean?

how can I install a detachable stereo? will it just be installed in front of my original stereo or something

Detachable - Detachable FACEPLATE of a Cd deck is what you mean....



And no you cant just put it over ur old one...



You have to REMOVE your old CD Head Unit, and Put in the new HEADUNIT, the faceplate will be detachable, meaning it can pop off with a simple click off a button.

Helpful so that car thiefs cant steal your Deck without the Faceplate...



And for ipod jack, you need to buy a Headunit WITH a ipod jack.



Headunit = Cd Deck = Stereo where you put the Cd in.

I believe what they are referring to is Detachable faceplate, meaning that the part that has all the controls comes is removable, this will detour some from stealing your radio, since it's wouldn't have a faceplate.
