I am trying to find a cb radio for my ford ranger. Myself and many of my friends and family are into offroading and most of them have cb radios and I was wondering if anyone knew of any good models

i have had a galaxy in mytruck for a while and do a lot of off roading, i dont have some huge f series truck that makes off roading like driving down the highway, ive got a small s-10 type guy. it bounces around and it can be real rough. The galaxy has held up real well. But i know a bunch of people who use cobra 25's cobra 29's and cobra 148's in theirs, If your gonna get a radio i would recommend a : Galaxy DX949 or a Cobra 29

When setting up the antenna their is a lot to know. you cant cheap out an expect performance. You have to know if your going metal or fiber glass, if you do go fiberglass look into the 4' wilson flex antenna. its great for off roading. well at least 4' , go to radio shack and buy a "SWR Meter" then do a google search on how to tune an antenna.... actually i think both the meter and antenna will come with instructions.

good luck. the radio isnt as important as the antenna.

Radio Shack sells cb's. A cb is a cb they are regulated by the fcc to 4 watts. That is it for any cb. You will need an swr meter to tune your antenna some radios have them built in. Don't get a bunch of useless bells and whistles. Get a book on how to set it up unless you have a friend that knows how.

Pretty much anything out there will do just fine. Since CB radios are regulated by FCC rules, every radio performs the same. Just looks around and see what you want to spend. Any Uniden model will do you just fine.
