i have experience4 hooking up hifonics amps to kicker subs and my advice would be not to do it for a couple of reasons

kicker products are CEA compliant and hifonics are not, hifonics over rates their stuff, and kicker is high quality and hifonics is mediocre at best

i wanted to upgrade a 300 watt kicker amp a few years back and i bought a hifonics "800 watt RMS" amp and it did not really push out as much as the kicker amp that was almost half of its size

i see that you are looking at RMS numbers as opposed to peak which is a good thing but when you are referring to non-CEA compliant it does not matter because that amp wont put out what it says anyways

good prices on kicker amps at hifisoundconnection.com

hope i helped, good luck

If your total system power is 1000 watts RMS or more, you will need to:

1. Upgrade the alternator to a high output alternator

2. Upgrade to a heavy duty deep cycle battery

3. Upgrade the "Big 3" - that is to replace (or add to) the power wire between the battery and alternator, the ground from the battery to the chassis and the ground strap from the engine/tranny to the chassis with at least 1/0 AWG wire.

Failure to do this will result in you replacing them anyway as the alternator will eventually fail.

Here is a guide that will calculate what size alternator and power wires you need http://www.datafilehost.com/download.php?file=6d26c621

A second battery is never a good idea as it's an added strain on the alternator to charge two batteries AND supply power for the car. The ONLY time a second battery is useful is if the audio system is to be used with the car off.

A cap is only good so far as the audio system isn't trying to pull too much from the electrical system. A cap doesn't provide more power, it's designed to 'stiffen' the voltage to the amp, nothing esle. If the current isn't there, a cap won't help. The alternator must have at least 20% more amperage power than the entire vehicle and sound system combined for a cap to be of benefit which is ironically the same requirements for an amp to be efficient.

If you look at the price difference between the Kicker 2500 amp and the Hifonics amp, you could get two Hifonics amps for the price of 1 Kicker amp. The output of those two would be a lot more than 1 Kicker. Check YouTube, and see how many people power Kickers with Hifonics amps. A lot more than with Kicker amps.

promote the capacitor. you've 500,000 farads and none of which will do you ANY sturdy. by technique of including extra caps and batteries, your alt is compelled to charge extra electronics, which will kill it. attempt this and also you'll note what they're putting forward caps are meant to do: Do the Big3 improve (capacity -charge- twine from alt. to batt., floor from batt. to body, and floor from body to engine block) all in 4g or higher twine. Dimming lights, floor noises, and voltage drop will be problems with the previous. Or attempt this, upload the cap and verify voltage even as device is cranked. Then get rid of the cap, do the Big3 improve and degree voltage back. The Big3 does what caps are offered for (promoting rip-off, do not waste you money). sturdy luck!

yeah, you can actually overpower a sub by about 20% and not have a problem. Like the case of my 8"L7 (1st gen) being forced with ~900W (double the peak, both coils combined), a whole lotta bass on tap in the SPL box in my firebird, you can hear me from 1/4 mile away!
