Alright here we go.

my buddy has a 97 eclipse with a dual speaker sub box that has two 12" rocksford fosgate P2's in it. (the ones w/ the silver topping w/ the punch logo).

He has a sony xplod amp thats about 1200w
and he also has a capacitor.

I have a 97 lumina, with a little bit different of a setup.
I have ONE rocksford fosgate 12" p2 (punch).
with a 1000w sony xplod amp
In a single non ported case.
and i dont have a capacitor

Now I dont really know much, but his system hits ALOT louder than mine, like echoing the block, mine seems to stay within a few feet of the car, and i cant figure out why.

I have a JVC head unit I believe its the avx333.
I have a line output converter for the RCA to the amp, and the amp routed to the battery. (like i said no capacitor).

The system kicks hard, but it just doesnt seem to be on the level of annoying the neighbors like my buddies.

Oh and I did forget to mention, he does have two of the same subs, but only one of them works so hes putting 800+ into the same sub i am.

Any ideas?

You can hit me up on AIM: chjis

if you wanna get more into detail, thanks.

things that determine the amount of bass

-cone surface area-- he has twice as much

-RMS wattage (not peak/max)-- he also has more

-sensitivity-- should be the same

-box type-- ported is louder than sealed

-car/trunk type-- hatches and SUVs are louder on the inside but cars with trunks beat harder on the outside so if you had what he had yours would be louder on the outside

the capacitor is a waste of cash and time, plus it puts more strain on the stock charging system

You have half the cone area, 20 watts less, less electrical backup (sort of) and you have a trunk vehicle....my guess is his box is tuned higher which would explain how loud it seems outside of the car, which while it will have less low end, it will be louder. Also, neither of you are putting 800 watts to that any sub...closer to a hundred watts each.

1. Why would you want to annoy your neighbors? Thats rude.

2. I bet you have better sound quality though, right?

3. If by echoing around the block you mean like indoors or right next to a wall, than switch around what I said about his box being tuned higher, thought you meant just standing right outside the car.

How can you compare a car with a trunk to a hatch? the reason for your friends system sounds better than your car is because he have a hatchback which mean no trunk and sound waves are much organized when bouncing off of the trunklid. At sound competitions you rarely see a trunk car competiting against a hatch, van, truck because sound waves travel different
