You need to hook up 2 to 3 wires. The red and yellow need to have power, and the black ground. The yellow, is the main power, so if you need to keep radio station presets, that Must have +12V at all times. The red wire, it to turn it on and off ( with a key, in the car) So, If you can remember to turn off the radio, then you can solder the red and yellow together, and connect it to a car battery.
Depending on how portable, you can use a honda battery, as it's the smallest car battery I can think of.. Maybe a motorcycle, or lawn tractor battery, might also work, but those will die much quicker then the car battery..
Good Luck!

ok this is gonna be kinda tricky. get a wiring diagram for the cd player that tells you what the different colored wires are for. get a small car battery and hook the constant power wire up to the positive battery post. then hook the ground wire to battery negative. hook the switched power wire to an electric switch (available at any auto parts store) this will allow you to turn the stereo off and keep from draining the battery while it's not in use. then hook up the speaker wires to speakers just like you would in a car. hope this helps. leave a comment if you need any more help.

You can use a battery charger, one that doesn't shut off when you have electric load. That'll allow you to use residential power outlets for electricity. You could also use a cheap 12v lawnmower battery also.

use a computer power supply
the yellow wire is +12
