First it needs to be a 2 unit / Double DIN /whatever term you want to use for one of the 'big' ones. If you know of a single DIN unit that satisfies all the following conditions then I'd consider using it with a space filler underneath but would prefer not to.
Two is proper Ipod integration (as in not just an aux input) so that you can change songs/playlists etc on the head unit and not the Ipod. Preferably the Ipod input port would be on the rear of the unit so that the cable could be routed into the glove box.
Third is the ability of the head unit to interface with the steering wheel controls that exist in the car already. Volume up/down and mute. Next and previous track/station and a mode changer.
I know sounds picky but if I will be one happy camper if I can get all of that. Well actually my father will as it will be a present for him.
