Ok so I am looking at a sub on ebay and it says that this subwoofer is 4000 watts and the rms is 2000 watts. After looking for a bit I found a qa4000d quantum audio amp and of course before spending $600 on this stuff I just want to make sure that this amplifier will power the sub to it's full potential. I was told by a friend that to tell if a amp is a true 4000 watts and 2000 rms is to add up the numbers of the fuses and times it by ten and you will find out the true power of the amp. For example if there are two fuses and they both say 60 add both of the numbers up (60x2) and times it by ten. I just want to make sure if that is correct or if he is just a dumb ***. Please help. These items are listed on ebay to give you a better depth of my situation. Thanks.

your friend is pretty close on the fuses. But their are some companies that will put a bigger than needed fuse in a amplifier to try to trick you.

The real way to calculate it is battery volts x fuse amps = watts minus the amplifiers efficiency . A class d amplifier is around 65%~75% efficient and an. A/b class amplifier is closer to 50%~60% efficient .

for $600 much better equipment can be had. Take a look at audioque

cadence

dc sounds
