I installed a new cd player in 97 explorer sport,it powers up and stuff but no sound! what's up with it.?

I believe everything is correct as far as the wiring is concerned, yellow to yellow ,red to red ,ground to ground ,speaker wires are all twisted up as well.is it my wiring skills?

It sounds like you have a premium sound system, which means the car has an amplifier. The amplifier needs to be powered up. If you are using an aftermarket wiring harness, connect the blue/white wires.

If there is no sound ouput , its probable that the speakers are not connected right or they are defective.
Try replacing the speakers with a set you know is working ok. If this does not solve the problem maybe the connections of the cd player to speaker are wrong. Check the instructions and the diagrams to assure they are right. If all this does'nt fix the problem , the final IC of the cd player is broken and needs to be repaired. If possible try to make all test with the cd player and speakers in a test bench using a power supply or a car battery.
