several years ago lanzar was a nice company. now they are flea market trash. do not buy.

look into audioque, audiopipe , and cadence for budget friendly amps that make the power they are rated to make.

I would consider its a good amp Lanzar VIBE286 Viberant 2 Channel 4000 Watts High Power Mosfet Amplifier 2 x 1000W RMS at 4 OHMS 2 x 2000W MAX at 4 OHMS 1 x 4000W MAX at 4 OHMS Bridged 2 x 1650W at 2 OHMS RMS Electronic Crossover Network Bass Boost Circuit 2 Ohms Stereo Stable

Lanzar's optidrive amps are good quality.

Other than the Opti's Lanzar has basically gone the all-out budget route advertising ridiculous max ratings and using very low quality designs.

If you download the manual for that mxa242 you'll find rms ratings of 125w x 2 at 4 ohms, 200x2 at 2 ohms (400w bridged), and having a single 30A fuse indicates even those ratings might be a little optimistic.

In that price range I would probably go with something like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390155953092&rvr_id=&crlp=1_263602_263622&UA=WXI7&GUID=4fd9ba981250a0b58fb76a97fff28cf8&itemid=390155953092&ff4=263602_263622

If you really want 1600w you're going to have to buy something used or increase your budget.

edit: George has obviously never owned or taken any time to research an optidrive amplifier, furthermore has NO knowledge of the history of the company.

NO, they are trash

when it comes to car audio nine times out of ten you get what you pay for- and you need to look for CEA-compliant brands which means that the amps have been tested and produce or exceed the advertised RMS wattage with minimum distortion and the subs can handle their advertised RMS wattage also (distortion is the main cause of speaker damage over time)

here are the top CEA-compliant brands

Alpine

Blaupunkt

Cerwin-Vega

Clarion

Eclipse

Infinity

JBL

JL Audio

JVC

Kenwood

Kicker

MTX

Orion

Pioneer

Polk Audio

PPI

Rockford Fosgate

Sony

you want an amp that puts out its advertised RMS wattage and speakers that can handle their rated RMS wattage also because if not you could damge the amp, speakers or both-- not to mention distortion is the main cause of speaker damage over time and with cheap stuff thats what you get

Nothing from Lanzar is a "Nice product", everything that they even consider making is pure garbage. People buy their 0.5 OHM stable amp because they do not want to look and then pay the price of a good amp that is 0.5 OHM stable. So they buy a POS and then complain. Lanzar is pure garbage, you can go buy their subs at a flea market for $20, continue looking.
