Question:
Should I invest in a Dash EQ for my sound system ?

I have some subs that I can trade in for a decent dash EQ .
Right now all I am running is two 12's and a mono class d amplifier and a after market receiver and everything else is stock.

Should I trade the subs in for that decent dash EQ or keep the subs and have 4 subs in my car?

EQ Sound processing units are nice to have you enter sound competitions. If you currently compete in competitions I would say that is a bad idea, especially if you were competing in SPL competitions. 2 12" subs vs a EQ, I would not trade the guy wanting to trade the EQ is probably getting the better part of this deal. EQ'S range from $100-1,800 as far as I'm aware. If the EQ was a really nice top brand EQ such as arc or cdt I might think of trading it up. If you had two kicker cvrs, might be a reasonable trade, but most EQ'S are going to be a little bit cheaper than 2 12's unless you own pyle subs, in which case don't even consider a EQ.

Only way I would make a trade for a EQ vs 2 12's would be if the EQ was arc or cdt. Otherwise I would just buy myself a brand new EQ!

Dash EQ is going to be a big upgrade. First question is do you have another box and another amplifier for the other two subs? If you don't have another amp or another box and your happy with the bass you have now. Then yea go ahead and get a dash EQ however you won't really reap the benefits of the aftermarket stereo or the EQ until you swap out your stock speakers and amplify them. Then you will start to see some major changes in quality. Look into upgrading your speakers and amplifying them.

I would add an equalizer unless you are a real big bass head. An equalizer can give you a lot more control on how you want your system to sound. If you want a dash mount eq I know kicker makes a pretty good one. Otherwise if you want even more control audiocontrol makes digital trunk mount equalizer, thats what I have and I love it. I has 30 bands of graphic equalization and a 2 band parametric equalizer plus a built in 3 way crossover. If you go with an equalizer I suggest you replace your stock speakers with some aftermarket ones to get the most out of your equalizer. I have Hertz 6.5 up front and 6x9 in back and they sound amazing.
