Question:
How can I boost the preformance of my Belkin Tunebase FM Transmitter with ClearScan?

I'm really quite disappointed thus far in the Performance of my Belkin Tunebase FM with ClearScan. For the longest time I had been using an inexpensive and low quality transmitter. It didn't have the greatest sound, but it was bearable. Finally, it began to die on me after a good year of use. Reluctantly, I eyed this Belkin one, and remembered that it had been the one I wanted a year ago when I was in the market. So I hesitantly made the hefty (as far as transmitters go) purchase, and I figured that I would be just delighted and stunned at how well it worked, and how the ClearScan solved all my many hours of searching for the supreme station problems.

I was wrong. The clear scan, I've found, works only with about a two foot radius from where you pressed the button. That was no big deal, disappointing, but it was something I could live with because I can still select my own station to get great results. At least, that is what I though.

As I cycled through EVERY SINGLE FM STATION AVAILABLE, twice, it became clear to me that either there must be something wrong with my transmitter, or wrong with me. Now I'd like to think I'm not too stupid to use a simple transmitter, but I'm not ruling it out.

Barring everything I've written up to this point, my question would be: Are there any simple things (ie less drastic than removing my car's antenna) I can do to improve the Performance of my Belkin TuneBase FM with ClearScan? As of now I can't drive for more than three minutes across my relatively small town without massive interference or the station just stopping all together.

Thanks for any help, tips, or information anyone can provide!
Have a great evening. =D

if u have power antenna remove the fuse.....u can unscrew the mast off most antenna......

would have told u if u asked that the cheapos work just as good as the name brands if not better ...and that the clear scan is useless and actually hurts due to it trying to change channels constantly.....

also not sure of ur exact setup but distance from the radio makes a difference .... also depending on where u mount it interference may b coming from ur vehicles electrical system......both in noise and in blocking the signal.........

i have had to use a lighter plug extension and mount the ipod almost directly to the radio in some cars.......anyway good luck

I have a Belkin tunebase as well and have learned to deal with the marginal sound output.

What I have found that Significantly helps with transmission is to use the supplied AUX cord and plug that into the base of the tunebase unit and wrap the other end of the cord around the rearview mirror. Granted this isn't very pretty And mine sometime falls of the mirror around sharp turns. This mod must act as an antenna and increases the strength of the transmitter.

If you make sure and find an empty channel to set the tunebase to, this little modification should help. I use 96.9 in the Kansas City area.
