Hi all,

so I'm new to car stereos never paid much attention cause I believe stereos for the most part belong in the home. But I had to junk my Ford Escort '92 and shop for a different car and ended up buying a '94 chevy cavalier. Here's where it gets interesting - the cavalier didn't come with a radio/tape player, not sure the whole story behind it but it looked like it was stolen because the wires were cut.
My question is... would I be able to take the tape deck from my Escort and use it in my Cavalier through some kind of wiring madness?

thanks all!

yes u can use ur old deck as long as it does not have any anti-theft stuff on it. i have been poor all my life and love car audio so i have done this many times before.

u can do this several ways. first determin if the deck will even fit in the opening. if it will and u can secure it well, then good.

now u will need to find wires on the deck and the car wiring.

this should be ur cavalier wiring:

Car Radio Constant 12v+ Wire: Orange

Car Radio Switched 12v+ Wire: Yellow

Car Radio Ground Wire: Black

Car Radio Illumination Wire: Gray

Car Stereo Dimmer Wire: Brown

Car Stereo Antenna Trigger: Pink

Left Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Tan

Left Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Gray

Right Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Light Green

Right Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Dark Green

Left Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Brown

Left Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Yellow

Right Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Dark Blue

Right Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Light Blue

this should be the wires on ur ford radio:

Car Radio Battery Constant 12v+ Wire: Blue/Red

Car Radio Accessory Switched 12v+ Wire: Blue/Black

Car Radio Ground Wire: Black

Car Radio Illumination Wire: Red/Black

Left Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Violet

Left Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Blue/Orange

Right Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Blue/White

Right Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): White

Left Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): White/Blue

Left Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Red/Blue

Right Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): White/Green

Right Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Blue

all u need is a pair of wire strippers, and either black tape, or the better way is to crimp them. match up the wires and enjoy some tunes.

just e-mail me with any ?!!!!

That Bose sound device they put in the Infinity FX is incredibly spectacular! once I get to be 60, i'm gonna blast the rock and roll so human beings will think of i'm deaf. I in all probability would be via then! permit's see, sixteen years to flow!
