I am going to use the 1 ohm rating of my amp as an example....

my amp says that it is stable when using
2000watts RMS x 1 channel @ 1 OHM

"BUT" there is two channels on the amp???
heres a picture for better understanding

According to the manual and the box of the amp there is only 1 channel (mono) on the amp.

This amp is a Class-D amp

so does this mean that if i connect both woofers to there own individual channel.........

They will both recieve 2000watts rms each??? (each woofer gets 2000watts rms to itself)

"OR"

They will both recieve 1000watts rms each??? (They share the 2000watts rms)

Your amp is a mono-block amp. It's not two channels, that's actually one channel connected in parallel. So if you connect two subs there and the net system impedance is 1Ohm, then each sub will get 1000W max.

The factory assumed that with amp that big and impedance rating that low the consumer will use 2 or more subs, so they provide two sets of output to make the connection easier.

For example if you have two, dual 4Ohms sub, you each sub's coils in parallel resulting 2Ohms, so now you have two 2Ohms subs. Now you hook them with the power, one to each set of terminal, it's just the same as you parallel them, so the end result is 1Ohm.

I agree with the other answer get 4 ohm. As far as that amp they wouldn't do the speakers justice. You have to look at RMS wattage when matching subs to amps. The RMS is what really matters. My friend has some kicker speakers he used to be running from a generic amp.(not to say that amp is generic) but when he changed it to a kicker sub it hit alot harder. I forget the exact model of the amp but just make sure its you get a good brand. I would stick with kicker.(p.s. kicker amps often have the RMS advertised. So don't over look their amps as being too pricey and not being the right wattage because it is usually RMS their talking about). Hope this helps.

This is with both subs rated at 1000 watts RMS @ 2 ohm each and wired in parallel. In this case, each sub is wired to each virtual channel. I say virtual because electrically, they go to the same channel and by default, will be wired in parallel.
