This is a pretty vague question. First, it depends on how much you want to spend! Car Audio upgrades are endless!!! Just the basic upgrade would be a cd head unit player, 4 speakers (2 front, 2 rears) and a 4-channel amplifier. If you want some bass with that, you'll need another amplifier (2-channel) and a subwoofer (10inch, 12inch 15inch etc..). If you want more bass, try 2 subwoofers (Get Dynamat for the trunk). Don't forget you'll need the wiring (2gauge, 4gauge,8gauge, 10gauge) and RCA cables (depending what you are doing, you'll need 2 or 3 of these). How about a capacitor? These save your car batteries and altenator. You should also upgrade your car battery to a "red top or yellow top" battery. do you want a cd changer (10disk or 12 disk?)? iPod capabilities? satalite radio (XM or Sirus)? or all of it!! How about a head unit that you can watch TV or movies in!!! Wouldn't that be great!!! You can put monitors in your headrests too!!
Now after all of your purchases, you probably want to invest in a good alarm so that someone doesn't break into your car and steal all of you new stuff!!!
If you buy cheap speakers, they will probably blow on you and sound like crap!! Remember, you get what you pay for!!

Start with the deck/head unit first and work your way from there. You always should start with a good deck because if you deck is no good...there sound will not be the greatest. Then your door speakers (crossovers/amps/etc), then add a subwoofer/amp or two. To find what sounds you are into the best advise anyone should give you is to go to a few different shops that sell stereo equipment and listen to different brands. Everyone enjoys a little different taste is audio sounds. I will agree with basslovin on alpine but I'm not much of a pioneer fan. So even right there between us we would have 2 different opinions aobut what is good. Hit up some shops!!!! :-) hope this helps!!!!

First figure out what you want your head unit to do. Play DVDs, CDs, MP3s etc. Then go to a car audio shop or your local BestBuy and start looking at decks. If you tell the guys there what you want and what kind of car you have, they can usually show you what would work best with what you have. And you can test the different decks, speakers etc while you are there to see if it is a sound you like.
I usually just go in and play with what they have because I already know what Iʻm going to buy. I just want to hear how it sounds first

go to your nearest audio store and go to that dept. and ask a rep. for assistance. ask things about satellite radios, speakers and amps.

upgrading the sound is one of the best things you can do for your car. start with a nice cd player that has mp3 and aux compatibility, next go on to replace your speakers, and if you want you can later add a subwoofer, stay away from the cheap brands and go with the better known brands like alpine, kicker, infinity, pioneer so you will get the best value for your system.

well i would advise upgrading your stereo deck and all 4 speakers first. this is usually the best first step. look for good brands like alpine and pioneer for decks. they sell for a pretty good price and have great sound quality. i like alpine speakers too. then after you have gotten that id look into upgradign the subs and amp
