Ok, I LOVE gadgets and am sort of a geek when it comes to technology. Or...sucker would be the better word. I am going to buy a new car, and was wondering what the best option is for gadgets & technology. By this I mean cars that have it in them, not aftermarket stuff. I am ok with having to build the car and pay for things to my specifications, I'm just wondering if anyone has personal experience or good advice. Also, which car has the best navigation system. I can tell you right now that my friend has a Prius, and his navi is way better than my Mercedes!

Talk about gadgets -- wow! Radar to slow and stop the car automatically (taking into account traffic both to the from and the rear), voice activated radio and nav, infrared nightvision, totally keyless, multi-mode seat massage.

I just bought a new Honda Accord because it was in my price range and the navigation system was LIGHTYEARS better than the one in the Toyota Camry. (The Toyota one couldn't even find my house three miles away. The Honda one found even the most remote places I put into it and gave great verbal directions to get there) In terms of gadgets though, I really wanted an Infiniti G35. I didn't use their navi, but it looked really good ;) Most luxury cars (and some lower end ones too) have bluetooth integrated so you can voice activate calling someone and speak with them hands-free while driving. The G35 has headlights that adapt to the road and turn so you can see around corners better (this is my layman's understanding of course, the way the salesman and my boyfriend talked about it was much more scientific) and not only are there memory seats, but the steering wheel also adjusts to your settings. On the G35 you can also purchase a traffic service through XM that will update conditions on the screen of the navi as you're driving and reroute you if there are accidents! Boy I wish I could've afforded the Inifiniti ;) But for a lower price, the Honda has some fun gadget stuff too! ;)

Besides and updated Navigation system (you can demo it at the Toyota site), the Prius has:

Radar cruise control

Radar pre-collision

Lane keep

Parking assist (automatically parks both ways)

Smart Start / Smart Entry*

Vehicle stability control*

LED headlights

EV switch

Regenerative braking*

And others that I can't think of right now.

I've had my 2004 for 108,000 miles now and it's still so good I'm only moderately tempted to get the 2010 (the * items are also on the 2004). No other car anywhere close to the Prius' price range has as many high-tech items. There are even more high-tech items to discover once you start looking into how the Prius functions. The Prius is extremely reliable and low cost to maintain (unlike some of the more expensive cars).
