i could put on in in under a half hour and do it while taking my time. get a kit for the install, a wiring harness to hook up to the harness that comes with the unit and connectors for the wire connections, it's color for color and it's that simple. altogether for the accessories, at most maybe 30 - 40 bucks.

Go out and buy yourself the wiring kit for your van and mounting kit. These can be found at any stereo shop or almost any place that sells car audio equipment. You will also have to check and see if you need an antenna adapter for your van. If it is a newer Chevy van you will need the adapter but some other vehicles need it too. Also to do the install you will need either electrical connecters or a soldering gun and shrink tube. You will also need basic hand tools to get the stereo out.

Once you have all this together you can actually wire the radio outside the vehicle by wiring your new kit to the wiring on the back of the cd player. These should be color coded making it easy to get right. The hard part now is getting the old radio out of the vehicle. Without knowing what kind of van you are working on I cant help you out much here but just be careful and make sure you have removed all the screws that hold the trim panel on. After you are sure that you have all of the screws out just pull the trim off evenly because most of the time they are held in with snaps too.

After the trim is off you should be able to see the screws that hold the radio in. Some Ford vehicles are rivited into the vehicles and require drilling the rivits out to remove the radio. After the screws or rivits have been removed simply pull it out of the hole and unplug the wiring from the back of the radio and remove it from the vehicle. Now install the mounting kit and and sleeve that goes over the radio and plug in the wiring kit and make sure the antenna is plugged in . Now just simply slide the radio into the sleeve untill it clicks and intall the trim and your done. If you take your time you can do it. Hope I have been helpful.

I have had people put mine in before and they did not have a hard time, yet they knew what they were doing. You don't want your electrical wires to get screwed up. You can also purchase a portable CD player that has a cassette tape which you put in your tape player and it will play the CD, but some cars do not accept these.

The cost of buying the CD Player depends on the brand you like to buy. If you like the high end like Sony, Kenwood, or Alpine will cost you a bit. But if you go with Panasonic, Phillpes, or Toshiba you could get fair price.

As to doing it yourself, you could do it. They all come with instruction how to do it yourself. It's all about wiring. Make sure where the battery power goes first, then the ground wire, then speakers for Front (R & L) & Rear (R & L). If you read it foucsed you could it.

its not to difficult if you have basice mecanical skills. you will need a mounting kit and a wireing harness for the specific model of van. Ask whereever you buy the CD player for them.

it depends on the make, year, and model of the van whether it will be hard or not. Some are easier than others.

its always best to get it done professional. one wrong wire in the wrong place, and it could burn it out. try halfords [ that's if you live in the UK ] or any electrical garage. i would"ent pay no more than £25.
